Brandeis Book Study Group

Back in June, Ronnie Fassberg invited me to speak before her Brandeis Book Study Group  and I am delighted that I had the opportunity to do so. What a wonderful, bright, energetic and full of questions group of women this turned out to be. The meeting was held this past Wednesday in Stuart, at the Temple Beit Ha Yam. When I arrived the ladies were in their seats and ready to start. They had numerous  questions about the process of writing – no, I don’t follow an outline, and.....

A Woman to Admire – Part 2

Yesterday you met Teri Pinney and learned what type of person she is…now I’m going to repeat a quote that she issued which tells it exactly like it is! As she spoke about the growing need to be realistic about the problems that exist in our schools, Teri said, “My goal is to see students treated as individuals…people with different capabilities and different talents…people who should be appreciated for who they are – and not how well we can jam a square p.....

A Book Club Discussion With The Author…What Fun!

By Bette Lee Crosby / February 27, 2010

There are very few things that are as much out-and-out fun as participating in a discussion group that has read your book. Quite often I’ll do that if the club is local…if not, I join the discussion on that wonderful teleconferencing medium SKYPE. (For those of you unfamiliar with Skype, it’s a free download that enables you to do teleconferencing with live photos from each end) This particular club discussion was held at Diane Casey’s home at t.....

Florida Schools… an insider’s story

By Bette Lee Crosby / February 25, 2010

SAVE THIS DATE –  Saturday, February 27th, 10 AM to 12 Noon. Author Teri Pinney will be signing her book “The Missing Heart”  at the Fort Pierce Library located at the marina. The sub-title of this book is “Chronicles of an Educator” and it is truly an eye-opener! Although the book is presented as fiction, look deeper and you will be able to see that this is the ugly truth about much of what happens in the all too often disfunctional school systems. .....

Get a Scrapbook the Easy Way…

By Bette Lee Crosby / February 24, 2010

Lots of people are interested in creating a  scrapbook to preserve memories of a special time or event but…they sinply can’t find the time. Sure, you’ve got those cruise photos tucked in the drawer along with the menus, a heart-shaped candy and nine matchbook covers from various ports of call…but do you ever look at them? Ever take them out to show your friends? Are you actuallly sure they’re still in the bottom of that drawer?  If you’re got the des.....

Pay it Forward

By Bette Lee Crosby / February 19, 2010

A dear friend of mine, Sunny Serafino — a wonderful writer with several award-winning novels to her credit — sent the following e-mail to all of her followers and friends. I thought it was so well explained, that I have decided to post it here on the blog. Please know that this is an open invitation, extended to anyone and everyone. My goal is to get an Oprah Winfrey style book club going with everyone reading Cracks in the Sidewalk for FREE!  Down the road I will.....

A True Story…

By Bette Lee Crosby / February 17, 2010

Wow…I’m really impressed with the number of people signing on to read “Cracks in the Sidewalk” – but then how often do you get to read an award winning novel for free. Lots of people are already in love with Elizabeth’s mother, Claire McDermott, and I guess it’s hard not to be for she’s the type of woman who shows the love every mother feels for her child. Something that might surprise a lot of readers is that this novel is based on a true stor.....
