A Visit with Six Authors & A Dog

February 22, 2013 #fanfun 5

I am a member of Destiny Makers – an awesome group of authors who generously share their knowledge, hold Twitter Chats on Friday afternoon and talk about all things books. In all there are forty in our group – some are mystery & thriller writers, some do paranormal, some YA, some, like me, write women’s fiction.

Earlier this week six of us got together for an all-day lunch…no easy task because Christine Nolfi, author of The Second Chance Grill came all the way from South Carolina, and Diane Capri, a prolific author with seventeen legal thrillers to her credit, came  from the other side of Florida. Our group included Patricia Sands, Author of The Bridge Club, Leona Bodie, author of Shadow Cay, and Karla Darcy, a Regency Romance author of many books including The Five Kisses, then there was me and the world’s hardest working muse…SUGAR. Her contribution to my work as an author is that she forces me to take potty breaks…for her, not me. (She also makes me laugh with antics that only a puppy can get away with.)

If you haven’t read my article 10 reasons why every author needs a dog, please do so, you can find it HERE.

If you wonder what authors talk about when we get together…it’s everything. We talk about the books we love, the books we’re writing, our visions for the future and the differing ways we can encourage and support one another. So, who did the most talking? Who got the most attention? Who was the star of the show? SUGAR, of course. Diane Capri, our hard-boiled legal thriller gal wanted to take Sugar home with her, but of course Mommy said NO WAY!

What great fun it is to get together with a group of gals who share a commom bond. Do you have a group like that? A book club maybe? A quilting group? Maybe even some college pals that you’ve been thinking of. Call them today and arrange a get together. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

Sorry I missed this–but it would have been quite a commute from Texas! Magical-dawg would have loved to meet Sugar. *s*

Bette is SO right! Getting together with like-minded friends can only result in a day of laughter and non-stop chat. Since we had all become friends through our online authors’ group, it was a pleasure to actually be in each other’s company. Thanks to Bette and Sugar for making our ‘all-day lunch’ such a great success ~ including a most delicious lunch with dessert that went on forabsolutelyever!
