FEATURED SPEAKER AT WESTSIDE BAPTIST SPRING TEA

Ladies love parties, and there is nothing more fun than an afternoon Tea where we wear our party dresses, fancy hats and best smiles. Such was the case at the Westside Baptist Church Spring Tea held this past Saturday. The theme of the Tea was Reflecting God’s Glory so every table was decorated with mirrored centerpieces, pink and green spring flowers and fans of pink napkins. Festive beyond belief! The event was sold out with 300 guests. Read more

AT THE VERO BEACH YACHT CLUB

Three-timeaward-winning Author, Bette Lee Crosby was the guest speaker at the May luncheon meeting of the Vero Beach Yacht Club Ladies Group. She spoke about the joy of writing and the real life situations that inspire her work.

Crosby, who is well-known for her sensitive portrayals of family relationships, delighted the audience with stories of her own Southern heritage, and the true-to-life experiences that bring poignancy to the stories that readers easily equate with their own lives. She spoke in depth about her latest release, Cracks in the Sidewalk, the novel that received the 2009 Royal Palm Literary Award from the Florida Writer’s Association. “This story,” Crosby told the audience, …Read more

Network LunchON A DAY WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT… …The nicest things can happen.

One such thing happened to me recently at the St. Lucie Networker for Business Women luncheon. To begin with this is a wonderful group of women who meet for lunch once a month to network and promote their businesses. Some of the attendees bring door prize offerings to be given out in a business card drawing. Plenty of goodies here – wine, candy, note paper, and lots of things pertaining to an individual business. (One gal represents a moving company and she frequently contributes those handy-dandy sliders that make it easy to move an armoir from one side of the room to the other.)  I donated a copy of “Cracks in the Sidewalk” and a financial planner from Vero Beach won the book. That was two months ago….Read more

THE BRANDEIS BOOK STUDY GROUP

Back in June, Ronnie Fassberg invited me to speak before her Brandeis Book Study Group  and I am delighted that I had the opportunity to do so. What a wonderful, bright, energetic and full of questions group of women this turned out to be. The meeting was held this past Wednesday in Stuart, at the Temple Beit Ha Yam. When I arrived the ladies were in their seats and ready to start. They had numerous  questions about the process of writing – no, I don’t follow an outline, and yes, I know the beginning and end of the story before I start….Read more
