Last time we looked at Southern Cocktails so why not a Southern dessert? I saw this on Facebook and had to give it a try. I also made an easy Pinterest card so you can pin the recipe if you want to make it yourself. Please share your favorite Southern recipes! I’d love to showcase them here.

Southern Buttermilk Pie

Southern Buttermilk Pie on Mid-Week Mixers

Original recipe on Just a Pinch
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 3/4 cup sugar
2 large eggs
3 tbsp flour
pinch of salt
1 stick butter melted
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp nutmeg

Preheat oven to 400°
Mix everything together and pour into an unbaked 9″ pie shell
Sprinkle the top lightly with nutmeg
Bake 15 min
Reduce oven to 350° and bake another 45 min
Cool to allow filling to set

Pie Crust:
I’m all for an easy crust so here’s my recipe that I snagged from The Country Cook
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup oil
2 tbs water

Mix it all up and press it down into a pie pan.
