Chick Lit Central Interviews Bette Lee Crosby
On October 16, 2018 Melissa at Chick Lit Central did an interview with Bette Lee Crosby on her blog.
What is a favorite compliment you received for one of your previous novels?
To understand the significance of this compliment, you have to know how it happened. The novel Baby Girl was based on a true story that one of my fans shared with me. When she first approached me about writing her story—one of a birth mother who gives up her baby, but never forgets—I told her that I only write fiction. She said that was okay. She told me her story and I wrote it almost as it was – fictionalizing only a very few parts. At the time I wrote the book, the daughter she had given up was 18 years old and while the birth mother knew where she was, etc., they had never spoken. When the book was released she sent her daughter a copy of it and said “This is our story”.
After reading the story of what her mother went through and how much she ached to hold on to her child, the girl contacted her mom, and the day they met for coffee, her mom took a picture of them together and sent it to me. She said, “This is the happiest day of my life. Thank you for making it happen.”
When one of my books is so powerful it can change a person’s life, I couldn’t ask for anything more.

The Summer of New Beginnings
One family learns that love is the greatest miracle of all—from USA Today bestselling author Bette Lee Crosby.
Aspiring journalist Meghan Briggs has always been the responsible one in the family. So when her father passes away unexpectedly, leaving behind his at-risk business, she steps up to save his legacy—even if that means putting her own dreams on hold.
Tracy couldn’t be more different from her sister. She’s always been the rebellious type, without much direction in life. But in the wake of her latest romantic disaster, she finds herself moving back home as a single mother.
As Tracy experiences the difficulties of new motherhood, Meghan faces her own struggle: trying not to fall for the stray puppy she rescued. This is no time for attachments—not to the adorable “Sox,” whose owner is bound to turn up any day, and certainly not to the handsome new vet in town. But as the summer unfolds, she discovers that, like Sox, she may need rescuing, too.
As both sisters navigate unexpected challenges and exciting new relationships, they’ll find that putting the past to rest can make way for beautiful new beginnings. READ MORE…

About The Author Stories Podcast
I started the Author Stories Podcast in the fall of 2014 because I wanted to listen to authors tell their stories. I wanted to know what made creative people tick, and I am fascinated by the journey that people take to get to where they are. I looked for a podcast that fit the bill and couldn’t find one, so I started the show that I wanted to listen to. I reached out to a few authors, and they were generous with their time and wisdom. Over three years later, and now multiple shows a week, and ASP is still going strong.
In late summer 2017, the show had grown to the point that I had to have help if the show was going to keep on the growth trajectory it was on. My wife Dawn graciously agreed to come on board as full time Co-Producer of the show. Dawn brings an excitement to the show and has done a tremendous job forming and strengthening relationships with the author and publishing communities. With her help, we have increased to multiple episodes per week and the quality of our guests is stellar.
We focus on authors from all backgrounds, genres, indie or trad-pub. None of those distinctions really matter to us, we just love books and the people that make them. We hope that by showcasing authors to our audience, we help the author community, foster a love of reading, and hopefully bring some magic to the world.
