This book is comfort reading of the highest order – perfect for those times when you just want to get totally wrapped up in someone else’s lives and just relax and enjoy their story. This is the third in the Serendipity series, but it really doesn’t matter if you haven’t read the first two in the series, this is a stand alone story. I had read the first in the series, The Twelfth Child, but not the second and I didn’t feel as if I was missing anything at all.
When Eleanor is seven years old she makes a wish that John will fall in love with her. Cupid hears that wish and promises himself that he will make it happen. However, as Eleanor and John grow older real life intervenes and it seems that their love is not to be. They each marry other people, have children and wind up widowed. Now, perhaps is the ideal time for Cupid to strike but to succeed he is also going to have to deal with John and Eleanor’s children.
The story is told from the perspective of Eleanor and also of Cupid, and I really liked Cupid’s sections – it almost felt as if this cute little wisecracking cherub was sitting on the sofa next to me telling their story as he plans and connives to ensure that Eleanor and John will have a future together. It is a really nice, relaxing easy to read story, jam packed with romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read, which is an absolutely perfect stress busting read. Many thanks to the author for the review copy.
