Great Story of Overcoming – #bookreviewer Salute
If you enjoy post Civil War Southern historical fiction, this is for you! I was nervous it was going to be an Oprah book club type book full of depressing stories, it wasn’t. Yes, the main characters have a hard time in the poor, segregated south, but there is also so much happiness. There are some really great characters to love of both races.
I really enjoyed it although I was disturbed by some parts. The sad parts are tough to get through, but I love how the author has made the characters so strong and optimistic through most of the story. Even when they are at their lowest they act to change their circumstances.
