A Note from Bette Lee…
Welcome. I’m delighted that you’ve stopped by for a visit. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to explore my website, browse through my books and get to know a bit more about me.
Heartbeats is a page where I share the stories that truly do come from my heart—stories about my family and the things I love. They are mostly memories, things that are no longer newsworthy but still too precious for me to set aside or part with.
This is where I talk about my sisters, the pets I’ve loved, the family I grew up with, and the special moments that will stay with me forever. Some stories are decades old, and others still have a certain newness clinging to them. But old or new, they are my personal stories, ones I’d like to share with you.
If you have time to visit with me, grab a glass of sweet tea, find a cozy corner, put your feet up and relax as we meander down this very special road that I call Heartbeats.

The Green Side of the Mountain – Part 2
Many years have passed since I spent summer vacations in Coal Fork, West Virginia…and during those years a number of things happened. Rita, the third sister, discovered she was unable to have children and adopted a little girl; a few years later Breast Cancer took...
On the Green Side of the Mountain – Part 1

Sugar Goes to School
As everyone knows, I am a sucker for sugar, both the sweet stuff and the fluffly white tornado that is now a part of our family. We got Sugar when she was just 8 weeks old and she has been working on training us ever since. So far, we haven't taught her anything but...
