Bette Lee Crosby

A Note from Bette Lee…

Welcome. I’m delighted that you’ve stopped by for a visit. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to explore my website, browse through my books and get to know a bit more about me.

Heartbeats is a page where I share the stories that truly do come from my heart—stories about my family and the things I love. They are mostly memories, things that are no longer newsworthy but still too precious for me to set aside or part with.

This is where I talk about my sisters, the pets I’ve loved, the family I grew up with, and the special moments that will stay with me forever. Some stories are decades old, and others still have a certain newness clinging to them. But old or new, they are my personal stories, ones I’d like to share with you.

If you have time to visit with me, grab a glass of sweet tea, find a cozy corner, put your feet up and relax as we meander down this very special road that I call Heartbeats.

Paris in July! Part Deux

A Girl’s Guide to Changing a Tire

A Girl's Guide to Changing a Tire - #fanfun Funny how something like a word, a gesture, or a phrase can trigger a thought that opens a floodgate of memories. I recently heard a Southern Mama advise her daughter to take auto mechanics in school because every woman...

The Green Side of the Mountain – Part 2

Many years have passed since I spent summer vacations in Coal Fork, West Virginia…and during those years a number of things happened.  Rita, the third sister, discovered she was unable to have children and adopted a little girl; a few years later Breast Cancer took...

On the Green Side of the Mountain – Part 1

We live in a world where plenty is the norm, where kids wear designer sneakers and carry the latest technology in their back pocket. We become agitated when our computer takes more than 29 seconds to boot. We text our friends, download a new movie and send out for...

Sugar Goes to School

As everyone knows, I am a sucker for sugar, both the sweet stuff and the fluffly white tornado that is now a part of our family. We got Sugar when she was just 8 weeks old and she has been working on training us ever since.  So far, we haven't taught her anything but...

It’s a Dog’s Life by Katie

It's a Dog's Life by Katie - #fanfun A lot of bad things can happen in a dog's life...I know, 'cause some of those things happened to me.  I guess I have always been what people call dog, because the first I remember of life is being in a box with three brothers and...

10 Reasons Why Every Writer Needs a Dog…

10 Reasons Why Every Writer Needs a Dog... No, I'm not talking about a dog of a story, I'm talking about the yapping, tail wagging, love you forever kind of friend that writers should not be without. However, in deference to all my kitty-loving friends I must admit...
