The Drama Teacher by Koren Zailckas on Bette’s Bookshelf
I am reviewing books at the New York Journal of Books and finished The Drama Teacher. To read the full review – CLICK HERE.
At first I wasn’t sure if there was a book of mine that would be related and then I realized, Cracks in the Sidewalk! For those who have read it, you know who the ‘bad guy’ is. In this book there is a ‘bad girl’ but there is a still a good ending in both books.
I’m giving away the hardback copy of the book that I reviewed.
Just leave a comment about what makes a good ‘bad’ guy or gal in a book. I will pick a random winner on November 26th. ***US shipping only***
Bad guys are always looking for trouble and like 1 too many women
I think a good ‘bad’ guy may look rough around the edges but still has a huge heart. Maybe tattoos, shaggy hair – but will stop to save a kitten in the road or rock a crying baby for an exhausted mother on an airplane.
A bad guy is a good “bad” guy when he’s so devious he’s 6 steps ahead of everyone else… he knows more info about others, especially weaknesses he uses against them.☘️
I think when the character is very deceitful and has a lot of secrets, they make a great and guy or gal!
Good guys care about things in life, while bad guys don’t and only want for themselves.
A bad guy thinks only of himself and his needs, and thinks nothing about the consequences and the feelings of others.
A “good” bad guy is one who does his bad deeds in the name of Love.
A good guy saves the day. A bad guy creates chaos and drama.
A good “bad” gal is deceptively charming, always ready to help, but also inconspicuous. The reader should never see it coming.
I think the ‘best’/scariest bad guys/girls are the ones who seem the most normal and nice at first. Then, when their badness comes to light, it is extra shocking and disturbing because I didn’t see it coming!
Interesting title
A bad guy is the person in a book who is trying to ultimately bring down someone or something. The good guy is the person who is working to build things up, trying to help the overall good.
A bad guy will think only of himself, and not care about the feelings of others. Thanks for the giveaway.
A “bad” character would be a liar, manipulative and psychologically abusive
A good bad guy would be an enemy turned lover trope.
Who is good at pretending!
They can seem like the typical guy/girl next door, all the while fooling everybody, but he’s truly manipulating, psychotic, cunning, & dangerous. You never see it coming!
Very definitely one who is such a good liar that they are so believable, the poor victim gets sucked in and then manipulated in the most devastating ways. The bad guy usually couldn’t care less how much damage has been caused as long as he achieves his aim.
A good bad guy is one who turns out to be a nice guy when he wants to be.
A “good” bad guy or gal, to me, is someone relatable, who seems like an ally, who appears to want to help the protagonist, but when his or her ulterior motives are revealed it can be seen that, really, every move he (or she) made was in service to his (or her) own goal. Ironically, that goal might even be a noble one when viewed from the “good” bad person’s POV, but is terribly flawed. (Does that make sense?)
A guy who can be so nice but underneath he isn’t
A good bad guy is a good looking guy that maybe plays tricks on people but nothing dangerous.
Bad guys are selfish & out for what they can get
I think a great written bad guy is one who is written to be psychologically manipulative!
